Donate an instrument. Change a life.
Musicopia’s Gift of Music program collects and repairs gently-used band and orchestral instruments in playable and good cosmetic condition. We then place them in schools with students who are eager to play but cannot afford an instrument. Through this statewide initiative, spearheaded by Musicopia for the Philadelphia region, Musicopia has collected over 2500 instruments for schools in need over the past decade. With the public’s help, we hold instrument donation drives and benefit concerts throughout the year, enabling us to give the Gift of Music to children who would love to play an instrument but do not have resources to buy or rent the needed equipment.
To donate an instrument, complete the instrument donation form (link above) and bring it to one of our Gift of Music Drop off locations. Please keep the donation for with the instrument. Please note that some instruments may not meet our quality standards or are inappropriate for education purposes and will be sold with 100% of the proceeds used to repair instruments or purchase new ones. We do not accept pianos, organs or accordions.
If you have questions, please contact our Gift of Music Coordinator at GOM@musicopia.net or call 215.829.9522 x 102.
- Musicopia does not accept piano or organ donations
- The IRS does not allow Musicopia to estimate the value of donated goods. Donors are responsible for estimating the value of the instrument. If verification is needed for tax purposes, please contact a qualified musical instrument appraiser BEFORE donating the instrument.
- Please call the drop off location in advance if you are donating a large instrument. Some locations cannot accommodate large instruments.
- Please note that at the present time (March 2017) we cannot accommodate any additional drum set donations this school year. We expect to be able to do so again once the new school year begins in the fall.
